Anna Netrebko, Brian Jagde & George Petean
Arias, duets, and trios from operas by Verdi, Leoncavallo, Puccini, Giordano, and Cilea.
Shortly after her stage debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in St. Petersburg in 1994, Anna Netrebko quickly became internationally acclaimed as a lyrical coloratura singer. Her European breakthrough was the result of two spectacular appearances as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and as Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata at the Salzburg Festival.
At that point, she had already sung a repertoire reaching mainly from Mozart to Donizetti and Bellini throughout Europe, the U.S.A. and Japan. However, no one would have foressen the breathtaking development in richness, power and stamina of her voice, nor the gradually ensuing huge shift in repertoire that occured in the second decade of the present century.
Today, Anna Netrebko performs the most challenging parts from the Verdian and the verismo repertoire with aplomb and grace, adding stunning role debuts every season, each of which testifies to this truly unique career.
Tenor Brian Jagde and baritone George Petean, two equally magnificent specialists for this repertoire, join Anna Netrebko in this glorious opera gala, which is conducted by Marco Armiliato. He returns to Monte Carlo for the first time after his memorable Puccini Festival in November 2024.
