Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to invite you to discover the 2025/2026 season of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Visionary and intense, it draws inspiration from the timeless power of the female figure and the mysteries of mythology, both to be found in a dreamlike realm where imagination and reality intertwine.
The image chosen to represent our season symbolizes the indomitable strength of the female icon. It reflects emancipation, resilience, and thirst for freedom, and it resonates with the legends and poetic tales that have shaped history and art.
From the very beginning, we will present exceptional works: Wagner’s Flying Dutchman, a tribute to Josephine Baker, and Verdi’s ineffably beautiful Aida. These productions will immerse you in stories of love, sacrifice, and struggle. Blending innovation and tradition, the season will continue to surprise and delight with Wagner’s Die Walküre, Mozart’s Così fan tutte – in collaboration with the Wiener Staatsoper to complete the Da Ponte cycle initiated in 2023 – and Verdi’s Il Trovatore.
We will also have the pleasure of presenting new productions such as Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, as well as moments of grace with Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, where I will have the privilege of performing the role of Orpheus, with all the passion it evokes in me.
After the immense success of Phantom of the Opera in 2023, the musical will remain a highlight this season. Since 2025/2026 will open the door to dreams and escapism, we will also invite you to the fantastical world of Cats. This magnificent musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber will work its magic for celebrating the end of the year in an unforgettable way.
And finally, in 2026, we celebrate the 10th birthday of the orchestra Les Musiciens du Prince - Monaco, with some magnificent events throughout Europe.
See you soon at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo,
Cecilia Bartoli
